Melanie - God's Only Daughter: The Complete US Singles 1967-77

Unhappy with her existing compilations, I started this quickie project last night and just completed it.  After that, her career appeared to be running into trouble. This is about all of the stuff that matters in her career, from eccentric folk singer to pop song stylist to hippy Earth Mama. All @320 and tagged with its original sleeves/labels. Much of this set is pretty hard to find. Someone really should put together an authoritative authorized compilation so her career can be properly remembered. "LP Version" means that I was unable to locate the actual single version!

Thanks Frank

I like most people have the candles in the rain album and a couple of later works but I have not followed her other releases as closely as I should. A wonderful singer with a very original sound.

Regards

@ Binkerbo, yes I added the first 6 track after I completed the first lineup. As a Faltonia member, you might have seen the original forum post and the later update. AYBCS is now a place for my collections, which are should have been or could have been released by the record companies/artists.

BF,

This is a super collection and why it hasn't been put out by Real Gone, Sundazed, Rhino , etc is beyond me.

... and don't get me started about how Melanie hasn't been more highly regarded in the industry and by peers and those that came after her (IE: Patti Smith). It took Miley Cyrus to shine the light on Melanie a few years back.

Thanks again for another fine collection.

Thank you for this collection...Ms Safka is certainly a treasure, not to mention being the subject of a youthful crush of mine. I saw her do "Beautiful People" on TV way back then and have been a fan ever since. She's certainly had some misfortune but thankfully is still among us, as vital as ever. Thank you for this collection.
