The History Of The Bonzos (Deluxe BF Edition) Part 1: 1966-70

For Neil Innes, RIP

For me, The History of the Bonzos is one of the greatest compilations ever made.  To honor Neil Innes and to remember Vivian Stanshall, I decided to create a complete career-spanning set.  This is the first part, of five that are planned. Each part is about the length of  2-CDs.  It includes virtually all of their band and solo singles/EPs, with key album tracks and quite a few rarities sprinkled in. I changed it to (mostly) chronological order and tagged each track with its original cover/label.  When completed, I hope that these collections will play as if the Bonzos had never disbanded, just continued on their mad, merry way.

  1. Whoa! I was just thinking the other day that you should do a collection of Neil's singles... but THIS outdoes that idea! Well done, BF! :)

  2. Excellent work....thanks for sharing.
Just wondering why Track 49 (Narcissus) isn't with the other tracks from the "Gorilla" LP??

  6. BlankFrank is busy with concurrent projects that should not be interrupted. But, I can sympathize about the Zippyshare Trepidation. I have my own crude methods but I don't know that I could explain them without compounding the issue. So, in the interest of all that is really Holy(like the KHJ Series, and this very special Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Razzle Dazzle...et cetera): Try this...

  9. Thanks for this listenload, which will hopefully provide a few surprises to this [very] long-time fan. Speaking of which... One of Stanshall's quips "Out of my way, I'm extremely important!", which has been a favorite of mine for almost a half-century, seems not to appear anywhere on the Cornology box, leading me to believe it was added to the mix of a US Bonzo Dog release. Anybody know of which I speak?? Thanks again for this and those to follow.

  11. Lovely collection. I have problems with Zippy, so I use Opera browser and turn the VPN on.

    Cheers

  12. Also remembering Sam Spoons and Dennis Cowan (the only Bonzo who actually *looked* like a rock star :) ).

  13. WOW! Thanks all for your comments!! I added Yandex for those who have trouble with Zippy. @ Reservatory - the quote doesn't sound familiar to me, if you can recall the LP and pressing, I'd like to upgrade. @Furball duly noted about Sam & Dennis, thank you. @my friend Kwai, we all gotta always keep a few balls in the air, don't we.

  14. I can throw in and say that the Stanshall quote (at least in one instance) comes from one of his "Radio Flashes" where he was filling in for John Peel. That may be what you are thinking of!

  15. Many thanks BF - doing a great job!

  17. Thank you very much. Yandex seems to work great--ZippyShare link is dead, as far as I can tell.

  18. "Out of my way, I'm extremely important!"
First off, a mega thank you to BlankFrank and whoever helped him do 'Eric's work' by putting a compilation together of the mighty Bonzo's.
    Cool Britania indeed.

Re' the above quote from Viv, I don't actually think it appears on any of their albums, I know the quote but he uses it in one of his radio sketches, he did a seris of shows called 'Radio Flashes' broadcast on Saturday lunchtimes on Wonnerful Radio One in 1971. They were brilliant, great music and hysterical sketches from Viv, ably abbeted by producer John Walters and Keith Moon.

Brillaint site! Much time delightfully wasted.
