With the appearance of the Mono Masters box, only now has it been possible to put together this set. So here it is: every single ever released by The King, both "A"s and "B"s all in the original vinyl mixes. I did exclude a few that I thought didn't fit in, such as when RCA put out every track from the first LP, or some gospel singles that were recorded and released many years apart.
As I like to do, every track is tagged with either it's label or picture sleeve, and if the flip side had different art, it was also tagged separately. All at 320, seven volumes 184 tracks with artwork and a tracklist included in vol 7. These are all mono (bar Charro) until the end of 1971. Honestly, I don't hear much difference between the mono and stereo mixes, but at least these are authentic.
I like these single collections because (IMO) they strike the balance between the familiar, the rare and has a way of telling the whole story with enough detail to stay interesting. Every time I put one of these together, I always wonder why it hasn't ever been done earlier. After all, who has had more posthumous releases than Elvis?
