So all of this inspired me to create the anthology that you now see. A few Pre-Stiff singles, Stiff Samplers, all of her Stiff//Columbia singles, soundtrack work and filled out with key album tracks, all at 320 and tagged source info.
** There were a few things that I have included with a BRAND NEW update, such as "Wildwood Saloon" live B-side and "Life Ain't Worth Living (when you're dead)" from the 1989 Sing OST though these are both needle drops with a little noise. "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" from Barbie - The Look CD and Nickelodeon"s "Clarissa Explains It All Theme" from 1991 have also been also added to the end of the set as a sort of postscript. The Fool Around LP version of "Wildwood Saloon" was removed. I got a thing about duplicate songs. Short attention span, I guess.
I invite you to take another look at Rachel's complete musical career. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Though the producer's and sometimes the material failed her, her artistry continued to blossom - amazing that it was all over for her by the time was 20 years old.

ReplyDeleteWow! Awesome to stumble across this... great job.
ReplyDeleteFantastic stuff. Thank you so much. I saw her many years ago on the Be Stiff tour.
ReplyDeleteGreat. But is Rex Smith and not Ron Sexsmith on "Everlasting Love".
ReplyDeleteWas "Life Ain't Worth Living (when you're dead)" released as a record?
ReplyDeleteMy vinyl soundtrack album doesn't have it as one of the 10 tracks.
Barrie B, I finally found "Life Ain't Worth Living (when you're dead)" (it was a US single B-side) and have just updated the set with three additional tracks. Valter, thanks for pointing that out. I have now corrected the error.
ReplyDeleteThanks bunches, BlankFrank. Am I crazy... or did you NOT include Rachel's incredible "It's So Different Here"? I've always thought it was her greatest single recording.
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify, Endless Love was Ross/Richie, Smith/Sweet was Everlasting Love, a song done by many artists
ReplyDelete@Sam, yeah, "It's So Different Here" was a tough decision. Fool Around is a (and her) classic album. I made a decision to NOT include every track of any LP simply because it's an anthology. I also decided that any Stiff era or later single track needed to be included, which helped me make some of the decisions So "Girl with a Synthesizer" and "It's So Different Here" got held off. It was a bit difficult for me too. I love the entire LP, both USA and UK versions.
ReplyDeleteHey, I get it. When it comes to musical selections, picks by one person to the the next are pretty unlimited. It's not like we don't already have our favorites and can't shoehorn them in on our own. What was it Paul Simon said? "One mans' decision is another man's floor." That's not right, but what is? Thanks for all the other tracks I DIDN'T have.
ReplyDelete@Samm I decided to add "It's So Different Here" to the collection.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments!!
WOW! Thank you for this. Bought her first album in 78 and never tired of her. This comp is great. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteHi Frank
ReplyDeleteLoving your work - thanks very much
Seems the Zippy link is blocked in the UK nowadays.
Any chance of an alternate?
I'd love to grab this one
Hi Frank, love all the rare Rachel songs. Do you happen to have the songs "Overnight Success" & "I Believe What I Believe" that you could post for download? Thanks in advance.
